Starting from 18 April until 24, the initiative is asking supporters around the world to once more share a selfie on social media inquiring brands about the background of their garments with #whomademyclothes.Celebrity and industry figures such as Amber Valetta, Cameron Russell, Susie Lau and Livia Firth are some of the names expected to take part in this year’s campaign.
In addition to the social media challenge, the movement has organised a series of activities and events running throughout the week including a Fashion Question Time event hosted by Mary Creagh MP at the Houses of Parliament, Westminster; the launch of a transparency index; a two-day upcycling workshop and three Fashion Revolution events as part of the Utopia exhibition at Somerset House.Aimed at raising awareness of the challenges of the fashion industry, the UK-based not for profit organisation plans to build considerable momentum to achieve significant impact over the next five years.In 2015, 63 million people participated in the #whomademyclothes campaign, creating a worldwide trending topic on Twitter on 24 April of that year.
